MINNEAPOLIS -- After an eight-game homestand, the Detroit Tigers head west to begin a six-game road trip. They kick things off with a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins, which gets underway on Friday night.

The Tigers are coming into Friday night looking to have more success away from home than their recent stretch of games at Comerica Park. Detroit played in a series of close games with the Texas Rangers earlier in the week, but managed to come out on the losing end in three of the four matchups, including a wild 9-7 loss on Sunday.
The Bengals have struggled at home this season, going just 4-7 after winning just three during the long homestand. They have been better on the road, coming into the Land of 10,000 Lakes with a 6-2 record.
Things did not go so well for the Twins this week. They were beaten by the Baltimore Orioles, losing all three games out east. Minnesota, a team that is just 1-4 at home this season, has lost four straight games.
The Tigers are currently third in the American League Central, three games ahead of the fourth-place Twins.
Minnesota and Detroit met last weekend in Motown, with the teams splitting a four-game series.
