Hancock County GOP gears up for May 14 primary with 'Meet the Candidates' event

The Hancock County Republican Party hosted a Meet the Candidates event Thursday for the entire state of West Virginia in Weirton.

All candidates were invited - both Republican and Democrat – and 22 attended.

The event was emceed by Hancock County Commissioner Eron Chek who created the questions to ask the candidates.

"It is very important for people to know that you need to start with the primaries because politics start local and there are 12 people that are going to be on the ballot in the primary and those are all of our judicials and that is important., Hancock County Republican Executive Committee Chair Dr. Lizabeth Gregg-Baldt said. “They make the rules and set the agenda.”

The West Virginia primary election is May 14.
