Neuschäfer nominated for Laureus World Sports Award

Published on April 19th, 2024

The Laureus World Sports Awards is an annual award ceremony honoring individuals and teams from the world of sports along with sporting achievements throughout the year. The 25th edition has South African Kirsten Neuschäfer as the sole sailing nominee being recognized for achievement in 2023.

Neuschäfer crossed the finish line at Les Sables d’Olonne in France on April 27 in the Golden Globe Race, after more than 235 days at sea, becoming the first woman to win a solo round-the-world race, via the three great capes. This achievement already earned her the 2023 Rolex World Sailor of the Year award, and has her nominated in the Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year category.

The ceremony will take place on April 22, 2024 in Madrid, Spain.
