ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The completion of an $8 million expansion to the Community Resource Center Bridge building offers early childhood education, senior and youth programming, and nutrition and wellness resources in Troy. Changes to the resource center include more space for programming and public health considerations.

The building will host three large Head Start classrooms, the Troy Youth Alliance, and community programming. Other improvements include ventilation upgrades, technology for remote operation, a new playground and outdoor pavilion for social gatherings and events and a safer play area for children. The Community Center at 2328 5th Avenue in Troy is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Event programming can be found on the CEO Community Center’s website.

Hochul said the transformation will give new life to an anchor community, lifting up Capital Region families. “Thanks to this investment, this project will help to improve health and wellness for Troy families, enrich the lives of our seniors, and secure a brighter future for New York’s children and teens,” she said in a statement.

Other local elected officials like Secretary of State Robert J. Rodriguez and Representative Paul Tonko said the changes will help to keep residents of any age safe and healthy. The facility’s improvement project was supported by the 2020 Community Development Block Grant CARES Act funding that was administered by the New York State Homes and Community Renewal as well as other community partners.
