A man has been charged after an alleged serious assault next to a McDonald's in Edinburgh.

Emergency crews were called to Gorgie Road at around 4.25pm on Monday, April 15. Paramedics attended and a 49-year-old man was found seriously injured.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where his current condition is unknown.

Officers said a 38-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear in court today.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault which happened on Gorgie Road in Edinburgh around 4.25pm on Monday, 14 April, 2024.

“Emergency services attended and a 49-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

“A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and the man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 16 April, 2024.”
