Family seeking justice after man was shot to death at Mt. Healthy apartment complex
A woman in Mount Healthy is speaking out after the father of her young daughter was shot and killed.
She wants justice as police look for the suspect after gunfire erupted at an apartment on Clovernook Avenue.
Police tell us 53-year-old Willie Lindsey was shot and killed Friday morning. He leaves behind a 9-year-old daughter. We're not identifying the mother of the child or the child for their safety.
"That was her teammate man. They were always together," the mother said. "They knew he was a father so why would you do that?"
The mother of Lindsey's daughter says she spoke to him hours before the shooting. She says she never expected to get a call from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office with the news.
"I tried so hard for her dad and her to have a relationship," the mother said.
He was teaching his daughter how to play softball. The two were inseparable. His daughter even wrote a poem about her dad's passing at school this week.
So far, no arrests have been made in this case, but this mother is determined to change that.
"I tell her every day we're going to fight. I'm going to fight to my day and help as much as I can to get justice for her father because that was her everything. That's all she knew," the mother said.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigations Section, was contacted and is leading the investigation.
