Whether you're an IPA enthusiast, or a proponent of pilsners and lagers, having the opportunity to enjoy a beverage for a cause can pay off.
Meeting at the steps of the Bradley County Courthouse by the monuments commemorating the community's veterans, a $4,025 check was presented to Disabled American Veterans last week.
The funds for this check were from an event arranged by Micah Smith, a veteran of the United States Army; and Brian Heusterberg, director of Bradley County Veterans Services.
On Veterans Day in 2023, Cleveland had its first annual Foam of the Brave craft beer festival, which sought to benefit the Disabled American Veterans.
"We decided to come up with a craft beer festival, which Cleveland has never had, first of all," Smith told attendees. "The first craft beer festival, we hoped, would draw maybe a younger crowd, but would also give us the potential to raise some money for veterans."
Thanking the Cleveland City Council for approving the event, Foam of the Brave was held on Nov. 11 at Mash & Hops and raised a total of $9,050, half of which has stayed local to benefit veterans in Cleveland.
Before presenting the check to Kenny Belew, adjutant Disabled American Veterans Department of Tennessee, Smith noted Clevelanders can expect a second annual Foam of the Brave later this year.
