Thunderstorms possible in central Pa., PPL preparing for outages

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for central Pennsylvania on Thursday, with gusting winds and strong thunderstorms possible in several counties.

The weather outlook was released around 4:45 a.m. and includes the following counties until Thursday night: Dauphin, Cumberland, York, Lancaster, Franklin, Adams, Lebanon, Juniata, Mifflin, Centre, Blair, Huntingdon, Warren, McKean, Potter, Elk, Cameron, Clinton, Clearfield, Bedford, Fulton, Tioga, Lycoming, Union, Snyder, Montour, Northumberland and Schuylkill.

The National Weather Service said “strong thunderstorms with gusty winds are possible late this afternoon into tonight, along and just ahead of a strong cold front.” Winds could reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour and cause isolated tree damage and power outages, according to the release.
