Burger King Holdings, Inc., the parent company, is private and independently owned by 3G Capital. Burger King operates more than 12,300 restaurants around the world. Ninety percent of Burger King stores are owned and operated by independent franchisees. For the purposes of its revenue estimate, Forbes considers only net revenues flowing back to the parent company, not total system-wide sales. 3G Capital completed it's acquisition of Burger King in October 2010.
