Northern Dental Access Center of Bemidji has entered into an agreement with CHI St. Joseph’s Health to acquire ownership and operation of the Park Rapids Community Dental Clinic, according to a press release.

The release says the clinic is keeping existing staff and provider teams to ensure seamless care for current and eligible new patients. The building temporarily closed, starting on Friday, April 5, to allow for staff onboarding, restocking and equipment changes. Patient care will resume late April and the clinic will be fully open in May.

As nonprofit organizations, both CHI St. Joseph’s Health and Northern Dental Access Center “are committed to providing care to those who need it most, including low-income and Medicaid-enrolled people,” states the release.

The location and phone number will remain the same: 206 Pleasant Avenue South, Park Rapids and 218-732-4436. More information can be found at www.northerndentalaccess.org.

“Folks may not remember that our two organizations have worked together since our early days of community planning to improve dental access in Bemidji; CHI St. Joseph’s Health provided a template and mentorship to guide our start-up and over the years, we’ve shared a common commitment to serve people in need,” said Northern Dental Access Center Executive Director Jeanne Larson.

“For more than 75 years, CHI St. Joseph’s Health has carried out a mission to help people overcome illness and injury and build healthier communities for our residents, friends and neighbors,” said CHI St. Joseph’s Health President Ben Koppelman. “We know the importance that dental health has on overall health, and need to keep dental access as a priority for our community. We could only hand that over to a trusted provider who shares our patient-centered approach to care.”

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
