LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Four two-week-old kittens were found in a container in front of the Capital Area Humane Society on Thursday.

A volunteer came across the container on Thursday morning. The humane society learned the kittens were left at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

“They were alone for almost 10 hours. They didn’t have anything to keep them warm, and they were cold to the touch. Two were lifeless,” wrote the Capital Area Humane Society on Facebook.

According to the humane society, two-week-old kittens without their mother cannot create their body heat and can die from hypothermia. They also need to eat every two to three hours.

The kittens are in an incubator, and the humane society is trying to regulate their body temperature.

“It’s too early to tell if they will pull through, but we are doing everything we can to give them the best chance for survival,” said the Capital Area Humane Society.

If someone sees stray kittens this young, the humane society said it’s important to keep them warm and provide them with frequent meals. Call the shelter at (517) 626-6060 if you need help caring for kittens.
