Monday is Earth Day and the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks celebrated on Sunday with their annual Earth Day celebration.
The mayors from Fayetteville, Springdale, and Bentonville kicked off the event with messages to the community about how we can work together to enact meaningful change.
“It means a lot to us to celebrate the earth and to not only celebrate it, but to learn how to protect it," Botanical Garden of the Ozarks Communications Manager Lane Berrey said.
This outdoor, family-friendly event featured interactive activities, educational and environmental booths, live music, food trucks and treats and the opportunity to enjoy spring in the garden.
“Small groups of people coming together is how things change and how we promote knowledge and environmental stewardship," Ozark Natural Science Center Teacher Naturalist Zachary Tipton said.
The Ozark Natural Science Center is in Huntsville, AR and typically teaches 5th and 6th graders about NWA's nature along with some adults.
“We got a lot of younger kids that wouldn't have had the opportunity to come out yet," Tipton said. "Not seeing just a tree or animal or a bug, but how these things are interacting with each other.”
