Gerald Robert Kehoe OBITUARY

On April 3, 2024, Gerald Robert Kehoe of Elgin, Illinois, passed away after a long battle with dementia. He was hopefully reunited with the love of his life, Becky. Gerald was born and raised in Freeport, Illinois, with his seven brothers and sisters. While making a delivery, he met his future bride, Rebecca (Becky) Richman. They were later married on July 18, 1959. They had two daughters together, Susan Beth and Laura Jeanne, as well as a son who passed away in infancy. Gerald was raised in Catholic schools, graduating in 1954 from Aquin in Freeport. He worked in printing throughout much of his life, ending his career as the Vice President of Manufacturing at Accuforms in South Elgin, Illinois. A fitness buff for many years, even in his early 80s, he was still doing 100 pushups and 100 situps each day. But if there was one thing he was known for, it was being an engaging storyteller. Throughout much of his adult life, Gerald lived in Elgin, Illinois, and St. Charles, Illinois. He and Becky loved traveling, with frequent trips to Acapulco, Mexico. They also took several cruises. He was an avid reader, long-time Cubs fan, and loved jazz music and word puzzles. Gerald is survived by daughters Susan (Steven) Jarrette and Laura (Jeffrey) Tucker, sisters Eleanor (Fred) Wells, Anne (Kirk) Holmes, and Mary Kehoe, brothers Patrick (Jan) Kehoe and Tom (Lisa) Kehoe, grandchildren Katherine (Jared) Swiecicki, John Jarrette, Michael (Emily Newbold) Tucker, and Elizabeth Tucker, great grandchildren Ike Swiecicki and Hugo Swiecicki, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca (Richman) Kehoe, parents Robert and Elizabeth (Leemhuis) Kehoe, in-laws Hugo and Gratia (Cowan) Richman, brothers John Kehoe and Donald (Julie) Kehoe, a son who died in infancy, nieces Barbara Wells and Lizbeth (Alexander) Hagler, a nephew Philip Alexander, and a great niece Melissa Hagler. There will be a memorial at Laird Funeral Home in Elgin, Illinois, at a later date. Donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America.
