Sky offers four superfast broadband packages with a minimum term of 18 months. As well as the monthly cost, you’ll also need to pay set-up fees, which will vary according to the plan you choose.
Whichever package you choose, Sky Broadband deals include line rental in the price. Sky also promises that you’ll receive the speed you’ve signed up for or your money back. Here’s what Sky currently offers customers:
Sky Superfast 35 is the provider’s basic fibre broadband deal, offering speeds of 36 Mbps – enough for a small household to with minimal usage but not one which streams a lot of TV and movies. If a basic package is what you’re after, this could suit you perfectly.

Sign up to Sky Broadband’s Superfast 35 package today and get Sky TV Essentials and a Sky Pay As You Talk calls package, all for £33 a month price-fixed for the whole 18-month contract.
This is Sky’s superfast broadband package but it still provides an average download speed of 61 Mbps (megabits per second). This is plenty for a small to medium-sized household’s streaming and browsing needs, as long as there aren’t too many users online at the same time.
If you’re looking for faster average speeds, Sky Full Fibre 100 offers up to 100 Mbps, costs the same, and allows medium-sized households to stream using multiple devices without interruptions.
Gamers and households which tend to have multiple devices online at once should sign up for Sky Broadband Ultrafast. This plan provides an average download speed of 145Mbps, which should be enough even for large households with multiple devices online at once with data-heavy usage, such as working from home and streaming in HD.
If only the fastest average speed is good enough for your household, Sky also offers the Ultrafast+ broadband package. This comes with an average download speed of 500Mbps, which is enough even for households with the heaviest usage. However, Sky Ultrafast+ is only available in around 21% of UK homes, so this won’t be an option for most customers. For the busiest households or the most dedicated gamers, Sky offers its Gigafast package, which provides near-gigabit speeds of up to 900 Mbps to customers. A minority of users will be able to access close to the fastest speeds the UK has to offer with this package, allowing for uninterrupted gaming and livestreaming on multiple devices.

Yes, if you’re only looking for a broadband provider, that’s not an issue with Sky. You can choose one of their five plans (Sky Superfast 80, Sky Full Fibre 100, Ultrafast, Ultrafast+ or Gigafast) and add nothing else to your broadband deal. Bundling your services can make admin much easier and customising your Sky broadband and TV deal can give you access to a whole host of Sky TV channels, including those you won’t find on Freeview. As a Sky customer, you’ll also have the chance to subscribe to premium channels such as Sky Cinema and Sky Sports.
Sky TV and broadband bundles include Sky Pay As You Talk, which covers calls made from your landline. The big point of difference is that you’ll only pay for the calls you make, which makes it an ideal option if you rarely use your home phone. All bundles have a minimum contract term of 18 months and incur a set-up fee (cost depends on the bundle you choose). After you’ve chosen a Sky bundle, you’ll be able to tailor your package to suit you by choosing from a range of exclusive Sky TV channels. The total cost of your package will depend on the add-ons you select, such as:
If Sky Sports isn’t enough to keep you up to date with sporting fixtures, you can also choose to add BT Sport to your Sky TV bundle. This will give you access to TNT Sport 1, 2, 3 and 4. You’ll also be able to enjoy your TNT Sports channels in high definition. TNT Sport is offered on a rolling 31-day contract, so it’s flexible enough for you to dip in and out of your favourite events without committing for longer than you need or want.

New customers combining Sky TV packages with their broadband will automatically be offered Sky Q. You’ll also have the choice of adding on Sky Signature, which has replaced Sky Entertainment and now includes a host of box sets. Remember that to access Sky TV services, you’ll need an engineer to take care of your broadband installation for you.
If you’re switching from another provider and are only looking for broadband, the switch should take place remotely, so you won’t have to wait for an engineer’s visit. If you’re switching from Virgin Media, the process is a little different as Virgin uses its own cable broadband network. Switching from Virgin Media is still possible, but you’ll need to speak to Sky directly to arrange the changeover.

Unlimited simply refers to the amount of data you can use. Before the pandemic, a number of broadband providers (including Sky) limited data use in certain packages, while unlimited broadband was sold at premium prices.
During the pandemic, however, many broadband providers removed data limits, so most broadband deals now offer unlimited data. This means that all Sky Broadband deals are unlimited, so you don’t have to worry about hitting a monthly data wall and having to pay extra.
Yes, all Sky Broadband services include line rental. It’s up to you, however, if you choose to have a landline or not. If you decide to take advantage of inclusive line rental and get a landline, Sky Pay As You Talk is also included in your package, meaning you’ll automatically be charged per minute for the calls you make, but won’t face an extra monthly cost.
No, almost all broadband providers (with the exception of Virgin Media) will need you to have a landline as this is how broadband is delivered to your home by any provider using the Openreach network.
If you have access to superfast speeds, broadband travels along fibre-optic cables from the exchange to a cabinet near your home. It then makes the journey from the cabinet into your property using a copper phone line. This is a process called fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) broadband. Most homes with superfast broadband have an FTTC connection.
The only major provider that doesn’t require a phone line for installation is Virgin Media, which uses its own network of coaxial cables to deliver broadband. You may also be able to get landline-free broadband if you have access to fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP), also known as full fibre. This delivers broadband directly into your home using fibre-optic cables and bypasses your phone lines altogether.
Sky Broadband is expensive compared with other providers but, depending on where you live, your choice of suppliers could be limited. This is down to the fact that not all providers operate throughout the country.
With this in mind, you’ll have to check which broadband providers operate in your area and compare deals to ensure you get the best price for your needs.
