Looking back: OU baseball has a case for hottest team in the country right now. With a three-game sweep at BYU over the weekend, the Sooners extended their winning streak to seven games. They beat the Cougars 10-8 on Thursday, 12-6 on Friday and 10-7 on Saturday. It was their fourth conference series sweep of the season, the first time the Sooners have accomplished such a feat since the Big 12’s inception in 1996. Oklahoma entered last weekend tied with West Virginia atop the conference standings, but the Mountaineers were swept by Texas Tech. The Sooners are now alone in first place, three games up on WVU and Oklahoma State. OU also moved back into the D1Baseball Top 25 at No. 18 on Monday.
Looking ahead: Oklahoma begins the week by hosting Wichita State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. OU previously beat the Shockers 5-3 back in March. Then, Red River rival Texas comes to Norman for a pivotal three-game series. First pitch times against the Longhorns are 6:30 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
