The Cedar Rapids Community School District approved its new budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal school year on Monday evening.

They're cutting next year's total property tax rate by about 66 cents.

While CRCSD did lose some students to private schools and open enrollment, the district still gained 180 more students overall this school year, which will get the district more money from the state's per-pupil spending.

The district is losing $10 million in expiring pandemic-era funds, and while some costs are going up, district leaders said they've been able to balance things out so they can cut taxes without having to make major cuts to the budget.

CRCSD has to get the budget into the county by the end of the month.
