A missing Milwaukee woman was found dead in the trunk of a car Wednesday near 29th Street and Ruby Avenue, police said.
Tomitka Stewart, 41, was last seen near 10th and Center streets at about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 14.
Police issued a "critical missing" alert for Stewart just after noon on Wednesday, April 17.
The Milwaukee Police Department said her body was found around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, shortly after issuing the alter. Detectives are investigating her death as a homicide.
In a second update Wednesday night, police said they took a 41-year-old man into custody connected to the case. Charges are pending review by the district attorney's office. Police said this case is related to domestic violence.
"The Milwaukee Police Department sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Tomitka Stewart that are impacted by this tragedy," police said.
