NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A woman wanted for high-end retail theft was arrested Tuesday after Metro police reported she fled from a traffic stop with two children unrestrained in her car.

Kelonzia Broyles, 23, was taken into custody after officers initially recognized her vehicle at the intersection of Brick Church Pike and Trinity Lane around 3 p.m.

Officers knew Broyles was wanted on retail theft charges and initiated a traffic stop, but she refused to stop and continued on to Brick Church Pike, according to arrest documents.

Officers did not follow Broyles’ vehicle but rather tracked her using MNPD’s helicopter until she was stopped at a red light. Detectives then used spike strips at the intersection and took Broyles into custody.

Inside the vehicle, officers found Broyles’ 2-month-old daughter in a car seat that was not secured to the vehicle and her 2-year-old son not in a car seat and unsecured in the back seat, according to arrest documents.

The baby was checked out by medics and released to her grandmother’s custody.

Broyles was wanted in connection to a theft from a sneaker store at the Mall at Green Hills in October 2023. Investigators believe she was part of a theft ring that stole $45,000 worth of sneakers from Impossible Kicks. She was also wanted for stealing clothes from Marshalls on Lebanon Pike.
