Court docs: NKY State Rep. candidate accused of assaulting juvenile at Walmart
A Kentucky State Rep. candidate has been charged with first-degree strangulation after an alleged incident at a Walmart store.
Brian Ormes, 53, is also charged with menacing and assault in the fourth degree.
According to Fort Wright police, the incident happened on Monday around 9:40 p.m., when a 17-year-old male reported being assaulted inside the Walmart on Valley Plaza.
Police said Ormes admitted to being in an altercation with juveniles because of their unruly behavior in the store, which he said impacted the safety of his child.
Police also said video of the incident appears to show Ormes placing his hands in the area of the juvenile victim’s neck.
Ormes has been released on bond.
Ormes is running for office in Kentucky District 67, which is in Campbell County. The seat is open after Democrat Rachel Roberts announced that she was not running for reelection this year.
