New details are coming to light in the recent murder-suicide involving a Port St. Lucie school teacher who was shot and killed by her estranged husband in a motel parking lot in West Palm Beach.

The night she was killed, the teacher sent a troubling email to her coworkers that got them worried.

Jamie Felix, 45, a math teacher in Port St. Lucie, was going through a divorce when her life came to a violent end. Her estranged husband pulled out a gun and murdered her the night of March 29 in the parking lot of a Quality Inn at 1505 Belvedere Road.

Hours before she was killed, her friends and co-workers grew worried about her and called 911.

Dispatcher: " St. Lucie County on a recorded line."

Caller: "Yes, is there any way that I can have police go to a friend's house? I think something's happening to her. I think she's in danger."

When Jamie Felix's co-workers got an email from her shortly after 6 in the evening on a Friday night, March 29, several of them called 911.

Caller: "I'm an assistant principal at Manatee Academy. I'm calling because one of my teachers sent a very concerning email."

Caller: "Somebody sent an email to our entire school, saying all these things that she would never ever say."

CBS12 News obtained the email that Jamie Felix sent her co-workers that made them worried.

It says: "As the teacher of the year, I'm sorry I ruined my children's lives. My husband's life. I lied about my husband and what he did. He didn't do anything. I don't deserve teacher of the year and I have no integrity. The only thing he did was grab my keys. He loved Manatee and he is a good person. I tried to ruin a good man's life. I don't know what to do now. I don't know what to do to fix it. I'm truly ashamed of myself and my actions."

Caller: "A friend of mine, she's going through a really bad divorce. Her husband was reportedly abusive."

Caller: "We have received a very strange email. There's been past domestic violence at this house."

Ray Felix was arrested last year for domestic battery and was not supposed to be around Jamie.

While the two were going through their divorce, Jamie was living with her parents. So after getting those 911 calls, police went to their house but she was not there. Police say that's because Ray had kidnapped Jamie and their two children.

Later that evening at the Quality Inn on Belvedere Road in West Palm Beach, a surveillance camera captured video of Ray Felix as he shot and killed Jamie in the motel parking lot.

A short time later, nearby, West Palm Beach Police say Ray Felix shot himself and he was rushed to a hospital but he did not survive.

The couple leaves behind two children, two boys ages 17 and 10.

Jamie's funeral was held last Thursday, April 4.
