77-year-old woman survives stabbing in front yard, drives herself to hospital

An Illinois woman was attacked and stabbed multiple times while in the front yard of a rental property that she owned on Sunday morning, according to authorities.

The stepdaughter of the woman attacked told KHQA that her stepmother arrived at a rental property she owned on April 21 to repair the roof.

KHQA was told that while she was working, Thomas Delcour, 34, of Quincy, approached her from behind and said hello. When she turned to respond Delcour stabbed her.

She was able to get up after the stabbing and drive herself to the hospital, according to the Quincy Police Department. She is currently in the hospital recovering, with the most serious injury sustained being a lacerated liver.

Delcour was arrested on Monday, April 22, in Payson.

He was booked into the Adams County Jail and is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
