BUT JUST EVEN DRYING IS YEAH, ROYALS ARE IN ACTION. IT’S WARM AT LEAST. SO WARMER THAN IT WAS THIS WEEKEND, BUT THERE’S GOING TO BE QUITE A BIT OF A BREEZE OUT THERE. I WAS WALKING LIKE THIS IN THE WIND. YOU KIND OF HAVE TO DO A LITTLE BIT, YOU KNOW? I WAS DEFINITELY DRIVING LIKE THIS, COMING IN BECAUSE IT WAS SO WINDY. SO A FEW MORE HOURS OF THIS STRONGER WIND IS GOING TO EASE UP A LITTLE BIT HERE AS WE GET AFTER SUNSET, SO WON’T BE AS WINDY. BUT IT’S STILL GOING TO BE A LITTLE WINDY OUT THERE IF YOU’RE HEADING OUT TO THE K, THAT’S 640. FIRST PITCH AGAINST THE BLUE JAYS WILL BE AT 68 DEGREES. IT’S GOING TO FEEL NICE, WINDY AND WARM OR MILD AND DRY. HEADING INTO THE NINTH INNING. MIDDLE 60S. AGAIN, A LITTLE BIT OF A BREEZE, BUT IT WON’T BE AS WINDY AS IT IS RIGHT NOW. HERE’S HOW THINGS LOOK TOWARDS THE CANE. YOU CAN SEE THE CAMERA IS HAVING A HARD TIME THAT CAMERA IS ROCKING BACK AND FORTH. WE’RE AT 68 DEGREES. LOOK AT THE WIND OUT OF THE SOUTH. SOUTHWEST IS STILL GUSTING NEAR 40 MILES AN HOUR, SO THAT’S FAIR TO SAY. IT’S A STRONG WIND, WHEREAS 72 DOWNTOWN, 69 FOR OVERLAND PARK OLATHE 68 FOR YOU, 70 FOR LEE’S SUMMIT, BLUE SPRINGS, INDEPENDENCE WE’RE ALSO AT 70 DEGREES, 69 FOR LIBERTY AND CAMERON LOW 70S OUT TOWARDS LAWRENCE. SO IT FEELS LIKE SPRING OUTSIDE. AND WE HAVE THAT SPRINGTIME STRONG WIND AS WELL. SO FOR MANY OF US, 30 TO UPWARDS OF 45 MILE AN HOUR WIND GUSTS ARE STILL OUT THERE. WE’LL HAVE SEVERAL MORE HOURS OF THAT THAN THE WIND WILL EASE UP A LITTLE AS WE GET INTO OUR LATER EVENING HOURS. WE’RE ALSO JUST SEEING SOME PATCHY CLOUDS THAT ARE DRIFTING IN FROM THE WEST. EVENTUALLY, SOME OF THOSE CLOUDS COULD BRING A FEW SHOWERS TO THE AREA. NOW FOR THE EVENING WE’RE GOING TO BE DRY. TEMPERATURES WILL HANG OUT IN THOSE 60S. THAT BREEZE, IT WILL CONTINUE TO GUST AT AROUND 30 MILES AN HOUR. THEN, AS WE HEAD INTO OUR LATE EVENING HOURS, THAT’S WHEN THOSE RAIN CHANCES START TO CREEP IN. HERE’S FUTURESCAN HEADING TOWARDS ABOUT 1:00 IN THE MORNING. YOU SEE, JUST A FEW SHOWERS COULD MOVE IN AND THE FARTHER NORTH YOU LIVE. SO IF YOU’RE CLOSER TO ATCHISON, HIAWATHA, MARYVILLE, SAINT JOSEPH CAMERON BETTER CHANCES FOR YOU TO SEE A FEW LIGHT SHOWERS, POSSIBLY A RUMBLE OF THUNDER OVERNIGHT THROUGH THE MORNING. TOMORROW THEY’RE 7 A.M. NOT ENOUGH TO WHERE IT’S REALLY GOING TO SLOW YOU DOWN, BUT JUST WANT TO GET YOU THAT FIRST ALERT. YOU MIGHT NOTICE SOME RAIN TONIGHT OR EARLY IN YOUR MORNING ON YOUR TUESDAY. BY MIDDAY, THOSE RAIN CHANCES PUSH OFF TO THE EAST AND THEN THE CLOUDS. THEY’RE GOING TO GRADUALLY CLEAR AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE AFTERNOON, SO NO WASHOUT BY ANY MEANS, BUT JUST KNOW MAINLY NORTH OF THE METRO, SOME SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE FOR YOU. SOME OF THOSE COULD REACH DOWN TO THE METRO THROUGH ABOUT 11 A.M. AFTER THAT, DECREASING CLOUDS, LOW 70S. SO NOT A BAD DAY AND NORTHWEST WIND AT 10 TO 15. SO MORE CLOUDS. SLIGHT RAIN. CHANCE TOMORROW. LOOK FOR THOSE HIGH TEMPERATURES TO GET BACK INTO THE LOW 70S. THAT WIND WILL BE OUT OF THE NORTHWEST AT 10 TO 15. CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN THE MORNING. AFTER THAT, WE’RE GOING TO SEE SOME DRIER WEATHER. REALLY SOME NICE WEATHER FOR WEDNESDAY. THURSDAY STORM CHANCES RETURN LATE AND THEN AS WE HEAD INTO FRIDAY, WE’RE GOING TO GET INTO A MORE ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN. FRIDAY THAT IS AS OF RIGHT NOW, THAT’S OUR NEXT WEATHER IMPACT DAY. WE COULD SEE A FEW MORE AS WE GO THROUGH THE WEEKEND, AS WE’RE MONITORING MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF THUNDERSTORMS STARTING ON FRIDAY, WE’RE GOING TO KEEP AN EYE ON THAT SEVERE WEATHER RISK FRIDAY AS WELL, BECAUSE WE COULD HAVE ONE ROUND OF STORMS THAT COULD BE STRONGER IN THE MORNING, POSSIBLY ANOTHER ROUND LATER IN THE DAY. EITHER WAY, IT WILL BE ONE OF THOSE DAYS WHERE IT’S WINDY ALL DAY LONG, KIND OF LIKE TODAY. SO WE’LL HAVE THOSE WIND GUSTS UP NEAR 45 MILES AN HOUR AND NOW IS A GREAT TIME. IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE IT YET TO DOWNLOAD OUR KMBC NINE NEWS APP. THAT WAY YOU CAN SET THE APP UP, GET THOSE ALERTS, GET RADAR, GET FUTURESCAN ON THAT APP AS WELL. AGAIN, STORM CHANCES ARE GOING TO INCREASE LATER THIS WEEK. STARTING LATE THURSDAY FRIDAY. STORMY WINDY. YOU SEE THAT JUST ABOUT THE ENTIRE AREA WE’VE GOT THAT POSSIBILITY. SEE IN THE YELLOW HERE OF SEEING SOME SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ON FRIDAY. SO WE’LL BE MONITORING FOR THAT ADDITIONAL STORM CHANCES RETURN LATE SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY. COULD HAVE SOME HEAVIER RAIN WI

There's a lot of talk about this 'active' pattern we are heading into this week, but thunderstorms and severe weather in late April are nothing new to Midwesterners. We prepare the same way year in and year out when severe weather threatens by checking the forecast often for updates, reviewing your severe weather safety plan and having multiple ways to receive weather alerts. Thunderstorm chances will continue over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday. There's at least some potential for severe thunderstorms on Sunday, but confidence remains low in overall severity, timing and storm coverage at such an advanced timeframe.
