SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A 41-year-old man died in the hospital after a crash involving a scooter he was riding and a vehicle in the Fairpark neighborhood of Salt Lake City, police stated.
According to a statement from the Salt Lake City Police Department, Ismael Ontivaros on Sunday night was traveling southbound on 800 West on a scooter when an eastbound vehicle on North Temple struck him.
Ontivaros was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the car, a 22-year-old man, remained at the scene. Police said impairment may have been a factor in the crash, but "additional investigative work is needed."
The driver was not arrested or cited, according to police.
Sunday's crash will be the fourth traffic-related death of the year in Salt Lake City.
