Triple N.J. shooting leaves 1 man dead

One of three men shot Friday on a street in Newark died Saturday in a city hospital, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office told NJ Advance Media.

The name of the victim was not immediately reported. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Avon Avenue.

Two of the men shot, including the one who died, were taken to University Hospital afterward. One refused treatment, investigators said.

“It is still early in the investigation and no further information is an available at this time,” Thomas S. Fennelly, a chief assistant prosecutor, said in an email Saturday.
