TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - You can stock up on summer reads and flicks at the next Friends of the Library book and media sale.

Janel DeLeye with the Topeka and Shawnee Co. Public Library visited Eye on NE Kansas to share the details.

As in past sales, the event spans three days. The first night is for Friends of the Library members only. From 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 12, Friends members will get first pick of the items up for grabs. Memberships are $20 for an individual and $30 for a family, and will be sold at the door.

The public book and media sale runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13. Admission is free. People should bring their own totes, bags or boxes to carry their bargains home.

The final day of the sale is known as “Bag Day” and runs Noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14. People can fill a provided grocery bag with items for $10.

The Friends of the Library organization raises money to support various programs at the library, including art exhibits and author visits. Since 1971, they’ve gifted more than $2 million to TSCPL.

Friends members not only get first crack at the book sales. They also receive newsletters, free admission to special events and a discount at the Chandler Booktique.
