Suspect in deadly Whitewater Township shooting faces judge for first time
The man accused in a deadly shooting in Whitewater Township on Tuesday night faced a judge for the first time on Wednesday.
According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 5000 block of Kilby Road for a call of shots fired and a report of a person shot around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
The sheriff's office said one victim was located at the scene and died. Wednesday morning, Hamilton County detectives identified the victim as Theodore John Block, 40.
Cole Anthony Hornsby, 24, was arrested by deputies and charged with murder.
In court on Wednesday, prosecutors alleged that Hornsby shot and killed Block, who was his neighbor.
Police said when officers arrived, Hornsby was standing over Block's body with a gun in his hand. In court on Wednesday, investigators said Block was shot five times. They also said Hornsby is not allowed to have a firearm and has a previous record in Indiana.
Hornsby's bond was set at $750,000. The grand jury is set to report one week from Friday.
