Milford man accused of hitting woman with car in Hopkinton road rage incident

A 36-year-old Milford man is facing criminal charges after prosecutors say he struck a woman with his car in Hopkinton Thursday night, sending her to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Ryan Sweatt is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, operating to endanger and a marked lanes violation, Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan and Hopkinton Police Chief Joseph Bennett said in a joint statement.

Sweatt is accused of hitting a 26-year-old woman with his car.

Sweatt was driving a Honda Civic on Route 85 in Hopkinton when he “became engaged in an apparent road rage incident with another vehicle,” authorities said.

At some point, the occupants of the other vehicle exited the car, at which point, prosecutors say, Sweatt made a u-turn at a “high rate of speed” and hit the woman in the street.

The woman was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the statement.

Sweatt is expected to be arraigned in Framingham District Court Friday morning, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by Ryan’s office and Hopkinton and State Police, according to the statement.
