HS Girls Lacrosse Wrap: Robbinsville upsets Notre Dame for first win in 11 tries against Irish

There are wins and then there are program wins.

Robbinsville picked up one of those program wins on Wednesday afternoon when the Ravens edged Notre Dame, 6-4, at the Steven J. Mayer Athletic Complex in a Colonial Valley Conference interdivisional contest.

The win marks the first time the Ravens (4-2) have defeated the Irish since April 25, 2012, when they captured an 18-17 win.

Notre Dame (4-2) had won 11 straight in the series before Wednesday’s defeat.

“It was a very good game,’’ said Ravens coach JennaMarie Colicchia. “This is the first time I’ve beaten them since I was a coach. This win is huge and I have never seen the kids so happy. I’ve never been prouder of the program and how it’s grown, it was a great win.’’

Solid fourth quarter defense by the Ravens allowed the three goals by Emma Reeves, two by Morgan Gonzer and a single goal by Kendall Franke withstand the Irish challenge.

ND was led by Michaela Driscoll with a pair and Reese Parker and Amelia Eilbacher each had one.

“We did all the little things you need to do to win a game like this,’’ said Colicchia. “We got a lot of ground balls, forced turnovers and had some great saves.’’

Daphee Luong had four caused turnovers and Dani Leeds had 11 saves for the Ravens.

Allentown 8, Shore 5

Allentown (8-1) used a strong third period and five goals from Delaney Nolan to down a very good Shore (6-2) team.

Marleigh White had a pair of goals and an assist for the Redbirds and White, who is having a solid sophomore season, grabbed 10 draw controls.

Chloe Conti had a goal and an assist and registered five caused turnovers.

The Redbirds have a CVC Colonial Division showdown on Friday with Princeton Day in Allentown.

PDS 21, Peddie 11

Tessa Caputo, who Monday hit the 200-goal mark, had seven in the Panthers (6-1) win over the Falcons.

Caputo added four assists for an 11-point game.

Jesse Hollander and Shelby Ruf each had three goals and three assists and Lucia McKee had three goals,  Kelly Christie and Ava Fairbanks each had two goals and Natalia Soffer had a goal.

Grace Giblin has five goals and two assists for Peddie (1-6) with Marcela Nearing, Anna Treese and Molly McCellan all with two goals.

Hill 13, Hun 12

It was another tight game for the Raiders (4-3) as Hill just got passed them in a MAPL game.

Ava Olender, who has 14 goals in the last three games, led the way for Hun with six, Olivia Kim had three and Aspen Swanson, Katie Borgstrum and Emma Stowe had one each.

Steinert 15, Ewing 0

Brooke Sinay scored a season high four goals and she added three assists as the Spartans (4-1) blanked Ewing (1-5).

Alyssa Hendrickson had three goals and two assists, Lauren Hardiman had three and one, Makenna Callahan and Sabrina Backman each had two goals while Emily Hardiman had one.

The Spartans, who are the two-time defending champion, have taken a stronghold on first place in the Patriot Division.

Princeton 15, Hightstown 9

The Tigers (5-2) bounced back from a loss to Montgomery and came out strong against the Rams (2-4).

Quinn Gallagher, who has 15 goals in the last four games, had four goals and two assists, Leah Bornstein has three goals and two helpers, Riley Devlin had three and one and Aniya Zahid had three goals.

Sarah Henderson and Phoebe Steiger each has single goals.

Sophie Cammarata had five for the Rams, Grace Weissenberger had two and Anisa Mascoll and Elle Quigg each had one.

Sacred Heart (CT) 11, Lawrenceville 9

The Big Red (5-5) took to the road and fought back but it just couldn’t overcome the Sacred Heart’s early lead.

Lexie Koch has three goals, Chloe Babich had two as well as Maddie Brogan. Anna Hoover had a goal and two assists.

Hayla Dora had two assists, Dani Caldwell added a goal and Kate Morey had an assist.

Hamilton West 12, Nottingham 0

The Hornets (6-2) spread the wealth around as nine players hit the scoring column in the win over the Northstars (0-6).

Morgan Bressler had three goals and Ashley Salguero had two.

Amelia Reed, Ava Rogalinski, Ava Riley, Rachel Nixon, Isabella Conte, Miranda Sommer and Victoria Mazur all had one goal.

New Egypt 7, WW-P South 6

South (0-7) lost a heartbreaker in the final seconds when New Egypt’s Madison Adam connected for her fifth goal on the game.

The Pirates were led by Anja Basdeo with a pair of goals, Grace Teng, Ahana Joshi, Shaili Holden and Arianna Huang all had one goal.
