In a news release from the Copperas Cove Police Department , the suspect in an aggravated assault on Friday was taken into custody in Nolan County on Friday after shots were fired into a home in Cove.
According to the release, officers were dispatched to the residence where they found witnesses who reported seeing a man firing several shots into the home before fleeing the scene in a black sedan.
Jiren Rodgers-Di’sonni, 40, who knew the occupant of the residence on Liberty Street was named as the only suspect. Officers at the scene found one person inside the residence who sustained no injuries and was alone inside the home. The occupant positively identified Rodgers-Di’sonni as the shooter.
During the investigation officers found several bullet holes in the exterior of the residence, the release said.
According to the release, despite extensive efforts, the suspect was unable to be located within the Cove city limits. Preliminary information about the suspect, the offense and his vehicle was shared with surrounding agencies to aid in his apprehension.
“Our telecommunicators played a crucial role in maintaining constant communication with law enforcement agencies, facilitating timely updates, and ultimately aiding in the timely apprehension of the suspect,” the release said.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety in Nolan County located the suspect’s vehicle and apprehended him without further incident.
Rodgers-Di’sonni is currently in custody at Nolan County Jail charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with bond set at $20,000.
The Copperas Cove Police Department continues to investigate this incident.
