  1. The final whistle

FT: Republic of Ireland 0-1 Switzerland

That is all from us as the Republic of Ireland conclude this international window with a defeat against Switzerland.

It brings an end to John O'Shea's interim reign, which ended without a goal.

You can read Andy Gray's report from the game here.

All eyes now turn to the FAI, who are set to appoint a permanent Republic of Ireland manager in April as they look to try and transform fortunes on the pitch.

    Thanks for joining us, goodnight.

  2. 'We need to find a way to score some goals' - Coleman

FT: Republic of Ireland 0-1 Switzerland

Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman speaking to Virgin Media after the game: "It was frustrating, it took us a while to get to grips with them in the first half, but then we got some instructions and we got a bit braver in pressing them a bit more and we were more organised. I thought we were on top then from then on in.

"We were unlucky not to score, I can't remember them creating much apart from the free-kick and we penned them in for quite a bit of the game in my opinion, it felt comfortable in the second half, we just need to find a way to score some goals.

"It has been a disappointing result, but a very enjoyable and positive week, we should beat Belgium and got something out of that Switzerland game, but the performances were promising."

  3. FULL-TIME

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Switzerland

It's all over at the Aviva as the Republic of Ireland fall to a narrow defeat after Xherdan Shaqiri's fine free-kick in the first half.

It was a poor display from John O'Shea's side, who have failed to score in this international window across two games.

  6. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Switzerland

What an introduction that would have been for Finn Azaz, who, moments after being introduced, rides a challenge, but chooses to pass instead of shooting when he gets into the area.

The Republic of Ireland are pressing hard for an equaliser in these last five minutes.

  7. SUBSTITUTION

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Switzerland

A late change for the Republic of Ireland as Finn Azaz comes on for his Republic of Ireland debut, replacing Josh Cullen.

  8. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Switzerland

Adam Idah strides forward and lets fly from distance, but his shot curls over the crossbar.

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Switzerland

Two further changes for the Republic of Ireland as Callum O'Dowda and Mark Sykes replace Robbie Brady and Sammie Szmodics.

  12. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Switzerland

Evan Ferguson comes as deep as the halfway line to get a touch of the ball.

It is hard to see him ending that goal drought I alluded to earlier as the Republic of Ireland just can't get him into the game.

    Evan Ferguson
  13. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Switzerland

Robbie Brady finds Matt Doherty with a searching ball into the box and he nods it across for Adam Idah, whose overhead kick is well wide.

A miss which sums up the Republic of Ireland's lack of ruthlessness in front of goal as they approach almost three hours of football without a goal in this international break.

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Switzerland

The resulting corner comes to nothing which will frustrate John O'Shea given how good Robbie Brady's deliveries from a dead ball situation have been.

Seamus Coleman and Sammie Szmodics combine well down the right hand side to win a corner for the Republic of Ireland.
