ADDIS, La. (WAFB) - Six students suffered minor injuries during a crash involving a school bus Tuesday morning, April 23.

Police said the crash happened as the bus driver turned into the parking lot of the First Bank of Addis off of Highway 1 in Addis. Police said the driver hit the roof of the building.

The passenger wall and roof of the bus were badly damaged.

A total of 14 students were on board the bus at the time of the crash. The six injured students were taken to a hospital in an ambulance. School officials confirmed that all 14 students were Iberville Charter Academy students.

Police said a preliminary investigation suggests that the bus driver was picking up students on his route before returning to Iberville Charter Academy.

School officials said that the bus company is investigating and will take all appropriate actions. Police also said their investigation is ongoing.

The drive-thru portion of the bank is expected to be closed for multiple days while the damage is assessed and repairs are made. However, the main lobby of the bank will remain open.
