A Sacramento-bound Southwest Airlines flight was diverted back to the St. Louis airport on Friday. Carol Dahmen-Eckery was on the plane with her husband Kevin Eckery and sitting in a window seat near the engine when she heard a “loud boom.”“It rocked the plane a little bit and we were sitting in an exit row,” she told KCRA 3. “It was a loud boom but everybody remained calm.” Kevin Eckery said that after the plane landed passengers waited for fire crews to inspect the brakes “and make sure there were no flames and it was fine.”They expect to return to Sacramento later on Friday. Southwest Airlines released this statement: "Southwest Airlines flight 5907 from St. Louis to Sacramento returned to St. Louis shortly after taking off to check out a potential mechanical issue. The aircraft is being taken out of service for review. Our Customers are being accommodated on a different aircraft, and will continue to Sacramento.
