The actress, 78, whose son Oliver Hudson, 47, recently clarified a statement about childhood trauma, opened up about her four decade relationship with Russell, 73,  on the Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend podcast.

In a clip shared with People from the episode which will air April 15, the legendary entertainer said she was first attracted to her Overboard co-star because of the way he treated her children, Oliver, and younger sister Kate, now 44.

'I can't explain it, but he was the one for me,' she admitted.

'It wasn't just because he was sexy and handsome and all of those things you get turned on by; it was because he matched my devotion to children to be number one.'

'The seduction was really his personality and his focus on the children,' she maintained.

Hawn was divorced from her second husband, Bill Hudson, 74, when the couple first met, and the Rendezvous singer was basically estranged from his children after that.

After getting together, Russell and Hawn welcomed son Wyatt in 1986.

Father and son play the same character in Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters.

The Apple series was renewed for a second season, according to Deadline.

As for the secret to their successful relationship, the Oscar winner admitted she and her longtime love 'don't agree on everything.'
