Daniel shared pictures on his social media of a sunny day and wrote to his 100k followers: "Beautiful blue skies in Manchester this morning…However, the planes have already started spraying.. it’ll be grey & miserable again in no time…"

One fan replied: "You actually believe this? I  should stick to acting if I were you...."

"Don’t be so damned ridiculous," said another.

One wondered: "You are being satirical right?"

Someone else asked: "Genuine question. What would the government get out of making the sky grey?"

Daniel came under fire in 2022 after sharing dangerous anti-vaxx rants on Twitter.

He was accused of retweeting misinformation, liking tweets from anti-vaxx and anti-lockdown campaigners and calling for SAGE scientists to be arrested.

Daniel, who joined Coronation Street in 2014 to play gay vicar Billy, previously took to social media to complain about the effect of the pandemic on the ITV soap, saying he found lockdown “horrific”.

Daniel admitted he was finding the ongoing coronavirus pandemic "tough" as the UK entered its third national lockdown.

In 2020 he wrote: "January can be bleak at the best of times.
