Major road closures planned for 2024 CMT Music Awards, alternate routes available
Road closures planned by the city of Austin for the 2024 CMT Music Awards will likely affect you, regardless of whether you are a fan of country music.
There are set to be “several street closures related to the event,” Jeff Stensland, a public information officer with the Austin Transportation and Public Works Department, told USA TODAY Friday.
It’s probably time to find an alternate route if you plan on commuting to or from Robert Deadman Drive, Clyde Littlefield Drive or Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
The closures will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., or later on Sunday, April 7.

Major road closures planned, expected to last several hours
- Robert Deadman Drive — Will be closed from DeLoss Dodds Way to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Clyde Littlefield Drive — Will be closed from Robert Deadman Drive to Red River Street from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard — Will be closed from San Jacinto Boulevard to Red River Street from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Those seeking north-south corridor access can use Red River Street and 15th Street, while East Dean Keeton Street will be available for east-west travel, according to KXAN.
