BOYS BASKETBALL

Lafayette 71, Lakeland 61

Tyler Neville filled up the stat sheet with 16 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks, five steals and four assists to lead the Rams over the No. 9 Cavaliers Monday at Lafayette.

Miguel Reed added six points and 10 rebounds while Lafayette went 13-of-14 from the free throw line in the final three minutes to close out the win.

Peninsula Catholic 91, Ocean Lakes 68

Chris Pierce-Brown scored a game-high 23 points, Travon Gray added 17 points and Tavion Meekins and Stylz Gardner contributed 14 points apiece as the Knights bested the Dolphins Monday at Peninsula Catholic.

The Knights led 38-34 at halftime before erupting for a 32-point fourth quarter to pull away for the win.

Denbigh 77, Bruton 66

Jemel Carter scored a team-high 18 points and Mahkai Jones and Deshon Bridgett added 14 points apiece as the Patriots defeated the Panthers in a non-district battle.

StoneBridge 57, Yeshiva Aish Kodesh 43

Anthony Simpson poured in 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers as they opened their season with a victory over visiting Yeshiva Aish Kodesh.

Emani Langley finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds to help lead StoneBridge.

Isle of Wight 73, Kenston Forest 58

William Fricke led with a game-high 24 points and Russ Wells added 19 points for the Chargers in a win over the Kavaliers.

Isle of Wight (2-0) led 37-34 at halftime before pulling away in the third quarter. Grant Worthy and Jabari Thomas, who finished with 13 and 12 points respectively, also scored in double-digit figures for the Chargers while Kenston Forest’s Trey Lewis led his team with 15 points.

Greenbrier Christian 69, Hampton Christian 55

Michael Giles scored 27 points and added three assists, Bailey Matela contributed 11 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks and Parker Clark finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and four steals.

Norcom 72, Booker T. Washington 63

Donnell Langford had a game-high 24 points to lead the Greyhounds over the Bookers.

John Marshall 90, Catholic 79

The Crusaders led 46-41 at halftime.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Norfolk Christian 36, Atlantic Shores 35

Katherine Visser scored 12 points and had four steals to help power the Ambassadors past the Seahawks.

Michelle Luhunga added 10 points and four steals for Norfolk Christian while Sarah Fitzgerald scored a game-high 17 points to lead Atlantic Shores.

Norview 85, Granby 10

Mikaya Tynes had 16 points and 11 rebounds while Diamond Wiggins added 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists as the fifth-ranked Pilots earned a decisive win over the Comets in an Eastern District matchup.

Marie Boykins contributed 11 points and 10 assists and LeAsia Foreman finished with 12 points and eight assists for Norview.

Norcom 43, Churchland 31

Anatia Waits had nine points to lead a balanced attack for the Greyhounds in a season-opening victory over the Truckers.

Booker T. Washington 45, Wilson 39

Ahmiah Jordan led the Bookers with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Saniyah Glasgow added 11 points, 15 rebounds and five steals as the Bookers bested the No. 10 Presidents.

Nansemond-Suffolk 48, Catholic 41

Alivia Giles scored 20 points to lead the Saints while Tisha Cajes had 18 for the Crusaders.
