Conroe man hospitalized after apartment shooting

CONROE, Texas – A Conroe man is in ICU after being shot multiple times at an apartment complex Saturday.

At 11:48 this morning, Conroe police responded to a weapons disturbance at 1101 South 7th Street. When they arrived, they heard multiple gunshots and entered the complex.

Officers found Corrandus Williams Jr., 39, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. The suspected shooter fled the scene on foot. Police quickly provided aid to Williams and began searching for the perpetrator.

The suspect was located at the 1000 block of Plum Street—a short distance from the crime scene—and he was detained. He was identified as 33-year-old Wayne Arthur Carter Jr. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and evading arrest. He was transported to Montgomery County Jail.

Williams was transported to Houston HCA Conroe Hospital, where he is being treated for his wounds. His condition is not currently available.
