Crews from over a dozen communities battle barn fire in Gilford

GUILFORD FIRE SAYS WHEN CREWS ARRIVED AT 300 GUNSTOCK HILL ROAD SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT, THIS IS WHAT THEY FOUND. THEY FOUND THE BARN FULLY INVOLVED WITH THE ROOF PARTIALLY COLLAPSED. THIS IS JUST AN UNBELIEVABLE, UNBELIEVABLE IMAGE FROM THE SCENE THERE. CREWS FROM ABOUT A DOZEN COMMUNITIES WERE ABLE TO GET THAT SCENE UNDER CONTROL. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER. Crews from over a dozen communities battle barn fire in Gilford
The Gilford Fire Rescue and crews from a dozen other communities responded to a barn fire Tuesday morning. According to Gilford Fire Rescue, crews were dispatched to the scene on Gunstock Hill Road at about 12:04 a.m. after a neighbor reported that a large barn was fully involved. The caller also mentioned the barn contained cattle and possibly diesel storage tanks. Responding crews were on scene within a matter of minutes. Officials say when they arrived, they found the two-story barn was fully involved with the roof partially collapsed. Gilford Fire Rescue says they were able to work with other departments to obtain water from dry hydrants on Gunstock Hill Road and from Lily Pond.The fire was under control around 1:08 a.m. Gilford Fire Rescue's Deputy Chief Brad Ober says there were no injuries and the fire was contained to the original building. He added despite the initial report, there were no cattle in the barn at the time of the fire.No injuries were reported to any people or animals.Communities that assisted at the scene included Laconia, Belmont, Alton, Tilton-Northfield, Franklin, Meredith, Holderness, Center Harbor, Gilmanton, New Hampton, Moultonborough, and Meredith. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but crews do not believe it is suspicious.
