A taste of the Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma

Last night, I attended the Silk Road Ensemble’s performance at the Orpheum Theatre (read my review here).

The work which opened the program, Ascending Bird, was an arrangement of a traditional Persian folk song whose driving beat and whirling melodic phrases was hypnotic. I thought readers might enjoy a taste of what it sounded like.
