BARRINGTON, Ill. — A northwest suburban wildlife rehabilitation center is helping nurse a coyote back to health after it became stuck in the grille of a car that hit him.

Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation said a one-year-old coyote was admitted around 10 p.m. Tuesday after being extricated from the vehicle by Waukegan first responders.

It’s not the first time Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation has helped a coyote stuck in a car’s grille.

In 2014, Waukegan Animal Control rescued a coyote hit by a car. The coyote, named Vern, suffered three broken legs in the crash. Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation treated and released the animal into the wild.
