Motorcyclist dies following crash with car in Danvers

A motorcyclist injured in a crash with a car in Danvers on Friday night has died, according to State Police.

The motorcycle operator, whose identity was not released, was heading east on Maple Street shortly after 6:50 p.m. when the 2000 Harley-Davidson was hit by a 2009 Honda Accord that was taking a left turn from Poplar Street onto Maple Street, State Police said.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at Beverly Hospital, State Police said. Authorities have not said whether the Accord’s driver was injured or whether they will face charges in the crash.

The crash is under investigation by the Danvers Police Department and State Police. Danvers police were assisted at the scene by State Police’s crash reconstruction team and Crime Scene Services Section. Danvers police did not immediately respond to inquiries from the Globe on Sunday night. The Essex district attorney’s office could not release further information.
