Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital in serious condition after Longford crash

The scene was sealed off for several hours for a forensic investigation but has since been reopened

A motorcyclist has been airlifted to a Dublin hospital after being seriously injured in a collision.

The incident happened in Longford town this afternoon at around 4.30pm and involved a motorcycle and a car.

A garda spokesman said: “The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene to Tallaght Hospital. The motorist did not require immediate medical treatment.” 

The scene was sealed off for several hours for a forensic investigation but has since been reopened.

The spokesman said: “Gardaí urge anyone who witnessed the collision or who was travelling on the N4 in the Aghadegan area at the time to come forward. Those with camera footage, including dashcam footage, are particularly encouraged to share it with investigating Gardaí.”
