DENVER (KDVR) — The 70 and 80-degree weather left Coloradans with a taste of summer, However, this past weekend’s snowstorm reminded the Mile High City that the winter weather isn’t over just yet.

The late April snowstorm left Denver with one question: Was this the last storm of the season?

Behind on snow this season

As of April 23, Denver is behind on average snowfall for the season.

Usually by the end of April, Denver should have 55.2 inches of snowfall, according to Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Travis Michels.

However, with one week left in April, Denver is over 10 inches below average at 44.6 inches.

Historically, Denver usually has its last snowstorm in mid to late April, and sometimes into May. While the time for snow is wrapping up, there’s still a little wiggle room for Denver to catch up to the average snowfall.

Snowfall chances in upcoming forecast

As for the rest of the week, there are rain showers in the forecast that could potentially turn into snow, but it’s not likely.

After a cool down this weekend, temperatures look to be on the rise again, according to Michels. The temperature trend for the end of April and the start of May will be above average. Precipitation for that same period looks to be below average

After April is over, Denver is pretty much out of the woods. The average snowfall in May amounts to 1.7 inches.

With warm temperatures this year, Michels expects an unrecordable amount of snowfall next month – which brings the city into the summer season.

Michels says that if Denver makes it through the rest of April without any snow, the city most likely won’t receive a measurable amount of snowfall in May, making this past weekend the last large snowfall of the season.
