Woman charged in West Palm Beach fatal hit-and-run
CHANGES FOR THE WEEKEND. STAY TUNED FOR THAT AHEAD. NEW AT NOON A SUSPECT IN A DEADLY HIT AND RUN CRASH IN WEST PALM BEACH BACK IN NOVEMBER IS NOW FACING A JUDGE. CALEB CALIFANO WAS IN THE COURTROOM AND HAS MORE ON THE CHARGES. SHE’S NOW FACING. ELSA AQUINO IS FACING CHARGES AFTER LEAVING THE SCENE OF A DEADLY HIT AND RUN, THEN ALLEGEDLY LYING TO POLICE. THAT’S ACCORDING TO THE ARREST REPORT. AQUINO WAS INVOLVED IN A DEADLY HIT AND RUN IN NOVEMBER OFF SOUTH DIXIE HIGHWAY AND KANUGA DRIVE. THE PEDESTRIAN INVOLVED DIED AT SAINT MARY’S MEDICAL CENTER AFTER REVIEWING SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE CAPTURED AT THE SCENE, DETECTIVES CONFRONTED AQUINO, WHO TOLD THEM THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF HER CAR WAS DUE TO A TREE THAT FELL ON IT. AFTER BEING TOLD THAT THE HIT AND RUN WAS CAUGHT ON CAMERA, AQUINO REVISED HER STORY A NUMBER OF TIMES, BUT CONTINUED TO SAY THE DAMAGE WAS DONE BY A TREE THAT FELL ON HER CAR AND THAT IT WASN’T NECESSARY AT THE TIME TO CALL POLICE. AFTER REVIEWING ADDITIONAL SURVEILLANCE VIDEO AND RUNNING A SERIES OF DNA TESTS FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE, IT CAME BACK AS A MATCH FOR AQUINO. AQUINO IS CHARGED WITH LEAVING THE SCENE OF A CRASH INVOLVING A DEATH. HER BOND IS SET FOR $50,000 IN WEST PALM BEACH.

Elsa Aquino has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal hit-and-run that occurred last November at the intersection of South Dixie Highway and Kanuga Drive, according to a West Palm Beach Police arrest report.After reviewing surveillance footage from the area, detectives reported that when confronted with evidence of her involvement Aquino initially claimed that damage to her car was caused by a tree falling on it.
