A police officer on an 'unmarked' motorbike caught a biker speeding at 80mph on a residential 40mph.

In a post on Twitter/X the Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team highlighted the incident caught on the cop's helmet-cam recording which highlighted the dangerous manoeuvres.

The post, by MPC Brown, noted: "Our unmarked motorcycle was in South Devon again today.

"Here is an example of how not to ride. 80mph in a 40 limit, overtaking cars and riding on the solid whites. Would you do this? How would you judge the rider?"

The short clip showed the biker crossing over solid white lines just inches from oncoming traffic and speeding along the 40mph residential road at speeds in excess of the national speed limit, let alone the local limit.

The tweet included the offending motorcyclist's bike as well as a blacked-out image of the unmarked police motorbike.

Other Twitter users were quick to praise the Roads Policing Team's work, with one stating: "Riders need to understand that we won’t tolerate this kind of driver/rider behaviour our roads" while another added: "I hope you have thrown the book at him".

One angry person responded: "Idiot, so dangerous. Also imagine him hitting another car, pedestrian or a pothole in the road. Hope he’s been banned."
