Pahokee teenager charged with attempted murder after shooting into a vehicle that occupied a young child

On March 20, 2024, just after 2:30 p.m., the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting into an occupied vehicle at the intersection of E Forth Street and Annona Avenue in Pahokee. When officers arrived on the scene, they observed a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu that had two bullet holes in the rear passenger door and the front passenger door. The front window also had shattered due to a bullet flying through it as well. Ten spent 9mm casings were found at the scene.PBSO detectives spoke with the victims, one of them being the mother of all three other occupants in the vehicle. The mother stated that she was driving with her family to pick up her son, who was in the area of E Forth Street and Annona Avenue, at a friend's house when her daughter believed that her brother may be in trouble because of a social media post involving a gang member by the name of Delphone Lucas. Lucas is 15 years old and is a part of a gang called "Gators."The daughter mentioned that her brother was hanging out with members of the rival gang "Sharks" and feared there may be some retaliation between her brother and Lucas.After picking up her son, the mother passed by the intersection of S Lake Avenue and E Forth street and noticed two guys yelling at the vehicle, individuals she knew as Delphone Lucas, aka "DKlilla," and DJ, aka "DHeaven."The daughter started to record the interaction with the two men yelling at them, Lucas then pulled out a silver-colored handgun with a black handle and fired 5 to 6 shots in the direction of the vehicle. The mother told Palm Beach County Sheriff Officers that in the vehicle was also her youngest child, who is 5 years old, and the son had to shield the child with his body to protect the toddler from any potential gunshots.Fortunately, no one was injured from the shots fired. Delphone Lucas was identified in a photo lineup and placed under arrest for attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
