Trades are as much a part of the NFL draft as the picks themselves, and the 2024 NFL draft was no exception in terms of teams moving up and down the draft board.

The Chicago Bears' No. 1 overall pick was a result of a trade with the Carolina Panthers last year, and trades continued to filter in as the draft drew to a close on Saturday.

Here is a complete list of every trade involving NFL draft picks that was made. B/R's live draft grades for Day 1 are available here and Day 2 are available here. Day 3 grades can be found here.

Notable Pre-Draft Trades

Vikings Acquire 23rd Overall Pick from Texans

In a potential effort to gain ammo for a trade up in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings landed the No. 23 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft in a trade with the Houston Texans.

Minnesota parted ways with second- and sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, as well as their 2025 second-round pick to acquired the 23rd overall pick in 2024 and a 2024 seventh-round pick from the Texans.

With that deal, the Vikes were in possession of the Nos. 11 and 23 overall picks in the 2024 draft, thus giving them a chance to make a trade up into the top 10 or potentially even the top five.

Entering the draft, the top quarterback on the Vikings' depth chart was journeyman Sam Darnold in the wake of Kirk Cousins leaving Minnesota for the Atlanta Falcons in free agency.

Landing a top quarterback in the draft such as Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy perhaps wouldn't be feasible at No. 11 overall, but trading for No. 23 overall made trading up from No. 11 a more viable option.

Giants Trade 2nd-Round Pick to Panthers for Brian Burns

The Carolina Panthers aimed to build their war chest of draft picks back up this offseason after parting with several of them to trade up to No. 1 overall last year.

While the Panthers entered the 2024 draft without a first-round pick, they owned the first pick in the second round at No. 33 overall, and they acquired another second-rounder in a trade involving star pass-rusher Brian Burns.

Carolina dealt Burns to the New York Giants in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick (No. 39 overall) and a 2025 fifth-round pick, plus a pick swap of 2024 fifths.

After finishing with the worst record in the NFL last season, the Panthers clearly have significant needs on both sides of the ball, and adding another second-round pick could go a long way toward helping them address those needs.

Also, with the No. 33 and 39 overall picks, Carolina has the ammo to get back into the first round if it identifies a player it likes in the back half of the round.

Howell, Picks Traded from Commanders to Seahawks for 3rd-, 5th-Round Picks

In preparation for selecting a quarterback early in the 2024 NFL draft, the Washington Commanders traded promising, young signal-caller Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks this offseason for multiple draft picks.

Washington sent Howell, a 2024 fourth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick to Seattle for the No. 78 overall pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft, plus a 2024 fifth-rounder.

While the Commanders came away from the trade with the same amount of picks they had before it, they secured two one-round improvements on the picks they dealt.

The Commanders are stacked with picks over the first three rounds of the draft, as they entered the draft with six of the first 100 selections.

That included two second-rounders and three third-rounders, which figure to come in handy either in terms of adding talent or trading up to land specifically targeted players.

Given that the Commanders had the NFL's second-worst record in 2023, they have a lot of work to do with their roster.

Howell has a chance to be a long-term starting quarterback in the NFL, but given that the Commanders are going in a different direction at quarterback, they did well to secure another Day 2 pick as part of the trade.
