Prince George's Co. police seeking to identify car in fatal Laurel hit-and-run

Prince George’s County police are seeking to identify a car in connection with a hit-and-run in Laurel, Md. that left a man dead on April 21.

Officers responded to the 9000 block of Contee Road around 8:10 p.m. for a crash involving a pedestrian.

When they arrived, officers found a pedestrian in the roadway suffering from trauma. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

The pedestrian was later identified as Barry Mitchell, 55, of Laurel.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a dark blue 2018-2019 Hyundai Sonata Sedan was traveling eastbound on Contee Road when he hit Mitchell.

The vehicle is suspected to have damage to the passenger side including the headlight and grille.
