JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Ted Henifin, interim third-party manager for JXN Water, said South Jackson residents can expect to see a major changes to their water pressure.

JXN Water began replacing pipes where residents have experienced low water pressure due to undersized pipes. The first mile of replacements is being completed on Lakewood Drive.

Officials with JXN Water said the project will take years to complete once all the parts are approved.

“First 14 projects that are identified will be cleared and be underway. There’s a master plan being worked on right now that will prioritize the remaining areas that need to be replaced. Once the master plans are in place, they’ll have a five, 10 and a 15 year plan that will lay out all of the work to be done. The funding that’s in place will take care of a significant amount of that, but there’ll be quite a bit of work that’s done on the hills of this that will work primarily off of the revenue sources JXN Water creates through its billing system,” said Charles Smith, a construction manager with Stantec Senior.

JXN Water aims to replace 100 miles of pipes throughout the city.
