BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police responded to the scene of fatal crash on Saturday after a vehicle collided into a tree near Parkway Drive and Croton Road.
Police identified the fatal crash victim as 81-year-old Gary Hurd from Melbourne.
Police say at approximately 11:32 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024, Melbourne police officers responded to the area of
Parkway Drive and Croton Road regarding a single vehicle traffic crash.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver and sole occupant of a 2012 Nissan Frontier had possibly suffered a medical episode while driving and died from his injuries several hours later at Melbourne Regional Medical Center,”
Initial investigation reveals that the 2012 Nissan Frontier was traveling westbound on Parkway Drive approaching Croton Road when it drove off of the roadway to the right and struck a standing tree at the northwest corner of the intersection.
Alcohol/drugs were not a factor in this crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
